Hello Lincoln Families,
It was wonderful seeing so many of you at Back-to-School Night! Thank you for all the generous donations of school supplies to our classroom! At this time, we are all set and do not require anything further. If you haven't sent in a special picture in a frame (5x7 or smaller), please feel free to do so.
As mentioned at BTSN, the only homework requirement is to support your child in reading for 20 minutes or more each night. They should have a yellow or blue bookmark to record the date, the time started, the time ended, the page started, and the page ended. Then add up the total number of pages. They will receive extra "yards" if you sign your initials. If this can't be done at home starting in late September, students will have to make up the time not read at home during lunch recess. Thank you for your support.
If you were unable to attend BTSN there are important papers you need to sign and return all of them. Your child needs to bring them to school on Tuesday, September 2nd. Thank you for your help.
Here are the BTSN presentation slides. Remember to do the following:
1. Sign and return to school the Compact
2. Sign and return to school the Coppa Consent
3. Sign and return to school the SJPS 1:1 Device Usage Agreement
4. Sign and return to school the field trip permission slip
5. Read the Student Handbook (linked in BTSN slides)

In this section, students revisit the ideas of area and factors from grade 3 and encounter the concept of multiples. They begin by building rectangles given specific side lengths and identifying possible areas when only one side length is known. Students use tiles and diagrams to develop their understanding before learning new terminology.
Next, students build rectangles given a specific area. They see that the side lengths of the rectangles represent the factor pairs of the given area value. Students also observe the commutative property of multiplication when they see that rectangles with the same pair of side lengths have the same area, regardless of their orientation.
Science: Human Machine
Social Studies: Democratic Values
